Bike Everywhere Day May 20, 2022

Join West Seattle Bike Connections, SDOT and the Flip Your Trip team from 6-9 AM and again from 4-7 PM where bike trails meet just west of the West Seattle Low Bridge. Satisfy your morning hunger with homemade baked goods and coffee, and tasty treats and bikey beverages at both events. Get advice on safe routes and equipment, including the latest information on construction of the upcoming East Marginal Way S Corridor Improvement Project, and a selfie with Sal the Salmon. Simple bike repairs come courtesy of Westside Bicycles in the morning and Bike Works in the afternoon. Light sets, bandannas, koozies and other swag will be available, and you can sign up for a prize giveaway from local businesses.

Lane closures on East Marginal Way next week [N of Hanford]

Crews from the Seattle Department of Transportation will pave [YAY!!!!] from Hanford north to 2200 block on Wednesday, Sept. 17 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Thursday, Sept. 18 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., weather permitting.

On Wednesday, bicycles may use the designated bike lane. On Thursday bicyclists may ride on the sidewalk, being cautious of pedestrians and giving pedestrians the right of way.

Free Bicycle Repair!

Just in time for Bike-to-Work month…free bicycle repair!  The next opportunity is this Thursday, 5/2, from 6-9pm.  Keep reading for more info.

The first Thursday of each month is free bicycle repair at the West Seattle Tool Library, brought to you by the Fixers Collective. Yes…it is free, but expect to help a bit with your own repairs! This is a collaboration of multiple Sustainable West Seattle organizations.

When: 1st Thursday of each month, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.  This is listed in our events calendar.

Where: West Seattle Tool Library @ Youngstown Cultural Arts Center (4408 Delridge Way SW). The Tool Library is located around the back of the building…you can’t miss it!

Parking is available in the north lot only (rear of building is reserved for residents).

The closest bus stop is at Delridge Way SW & SW Genesee St, and you can plan a bus trip using Metro’s online tools.

And remember that all Metro buses can accommodate up to three (3) bikes on their front racks.
